Future Hotel: Automatic Check-in at Nils am See
In the most beautiful surroundings of Neusiedler See National Park lies the hotel Nils am See. The hotel is highly automated and uses the latest technology. This is both to make the stay as comfortable as possible for the guests but also to significantly reduce energy consumption.
The hotel uses an innovative, fully automatic check-in system that is integrated with the booking system. A key bracelet dispensing system makes it possible to receive bracelets without staff involvement. If the guest arrives late in the evening, they can unlock the door with a code, whereupon they can “draw their bracelet” from the machine. The system also ensures that rooms which are not booked do not use unnecessary energy to heat or cool the room. At the same time, the hotel is constructed in such a way that the rooms do not overheat when the sun shines.
All rooms are equipped with a specially developed iPad app that makes it possible to control the room’s functions, where guests can select “Do Not Disturb” or “Cleaning”. Through the app, guests can also get in contact with the reception or order room service. This provides guests with an undisturbed stay as the staff knows when the guest has left the room and desires cleaning. It also saves the staff time as they can constantly see on a screen which rooms are ready for cleaning.
This frees up time for the staff, who can instead use their time attending to guests who have questions or special requests for their stay in the beautiful recreational area by the lake or in the hotel’s pool.
Bracelets – a Simple Design with Great Functionality
In a collaboration between Ikast Etiket and Nils am See, the hotel has developed bracelets that fit in the machine dispensing bracelets to guests upon arrival. The bracelets are designed very simply in a maritime style that matches the hotel’s architecture and uses visual expressions such as knots and maritime colors. The bracelet is easy to take on and off, if it suits the guest’s temperament better to keep the bracelet in a bag.
The white plate is designed with the hotel’s logo and name on either side of the RFID chip, and it looks nice to wear the bracelet no matter which side of the chip is facing up.
Each individual bracelet is mounted on a piece of cardboard and packaged in a small bag. This ensures that the bracelets can be easily and simply used in the system dispensing bracelets to guests upon arrival at the hotel.
The bracelet not only provides access to the room but also to the wellness area.
